Update: So . . . . The above ZF rack from Autozone (Duralast) is/was bad right out of the gate. Puking fluid into the boots from the end seals. Autozone's suppliers can't get another one and my core is gone, whisked away to be poorly rebuilt for someone else. They (Autozone) as of last Saturday, claim to have ordered me a AC Delco reman unit from Rock Auto. But, my senses say they are playing me and I might have to get aggressive and demand a refund so I can acquire a rack from another source. Good times, love it.
In other news! My old tail lights needed/had to be replaced. The left one had broken lenses and red duct tape for legal reasons and the right one broke away from the studs after hitting a completely avoidable and rather large pot hole and was left dangling by the power/ground wires. Rock Auto had these throw the dice URO brand tail lights for a reasonable price so I bought them.
My Bulb failure sensor decided to die slowly over the past few weeks and after 30 min of driving kill power to the passenger side parking lights. After much ground and contact cleaning, head scratching, voltage testing, and google searching I found Dave Barton's bulb relay bypass instructions. Wire jumpers were made and life is grand.
Eagle eyed viewers will note that I used a thicker wire to match the wires going in and out for the headlights. Safety first people!
I pulled out the guts of the old relay and used the case as a protective cover. you could actually go as far as to push the pins through the top case cover and make it look factory if one is so inclined. Im sorta lazy so taped the cover into place instead.
While I was looking at the new tail lights I noticed URO had the lower center spot milled out to accept a parking light bulb socket. popped one in there and lo and behold I now have 3 parking lights on each side. You're impressed I know it!
That's it for now. Patiently waiting for the weather to warm up and a weekend where I am not running around chasing wild hairs for er with my wife to do some more things
Things to do:
- Retouch paint around windows
- Remove and paint air dam
- Buy/install lower and upper chassis braces
- Decide and buy whatever suspension I want/need. Ben's Coilovers or B&G springs with Billy hd shocks/struts
- Finally start working on rebuilding the 94 B230FT lump half torn apart in the back of my garage. More power must be had
. . . . . . . It's all about the Time and Money.
