Help with T04E Turbo Leaks at Manifold

Finally got through a two days without leaks between the manifold and turbo.

Full race a286 studs, with nordlocks and non-locking nuts went for two sessions of 6.5 hours each.

Between days I had to disassemble due to a cracked hot side. Nuts were tight and the nordlocks were wedged in on both sides.

I know culberro was also having issues on another thread, maybe this will help him.

No gasket.

Update to this, switched over to the full race studs. Worked absolutely great. The turbo never came loose.

For some reason the flange area on the ATP housing is substantially thicker, and the studs only engages about halfway through the nuts. Anyways, it works.

I found these on Amazon, seem like a good TB option when paired with the nordlocks and nuts.
3/8-16 x 4" a286 studs for $8/each.

As far as no gasket goes, my machinist suggested high temp engine paint which I've had on since last year with no leaks. Just sprayed both sides and bolted it together.

Glad it works for you.

I did not notice the .63 T04e ATP housing being any different than a Yoshifab or Garrett. Mine seem to have a thread or two above the nut. No gasket.

Those studs seem really long. The full race has a fine thread on one end and a coarse on the other, I wonder if that has any effect.

4" is way too long, but you could get 2-3 studs out of each one :-P

Interesting on the stud length observations.
